Rumble in the Jungle

The sounds of a thousand birds mask the air surrounding the greenery. The flutter of a hundred butterflies. Water drops and tree sways all create a symphony in the heart of the Oban forest.

We thread with care. We don’t want to get entangled with a viper in the jungle. Our eyes are peeled searching for exotic monkeys. We follow trails of undergrowth ferns and shrubs. Our soles are coated with dirt, we find ourselves at the mouth of a flowing spring. The waters sparkle and we can see the depth and content of its belly. Colorful fish doing aquatic callisthenics. We are wowed! Giant trees extend their thick long legs over the water.

We hear movements above. Our necks incline our heads backwards, still no fancy monkeys. Agbor tells us we are on a wild goose chase. The monkeys are gone. They have been chased by men’s gun.
