I highly recommend the “PBS” Kids Reading Program which is available online. Use your computer, or tablet to play this game. On my website, this review can be found in the K-5th Grade: Games section of www.edugameshop.com. This game encourages younger kids to love reading. In addition, a variety of fun games and interactive books are on the “PBS” website. Therefore, this program helps to improve reading fluency, comprehension skills, and phonics awareness. The “PBS” Kids Reading Program has 5 sections.

1) “PBS” Kids Reading- Home Page

First, the home page lists all the interactive books available. Then, the child can read and listen to a variety of books. Plus, there are different activities to complete for each book. Under each book, a task description explains each activity. As a result, the “PBS” website has a lot of books to discover!

2) “PBS” Kids Reading- “ABC Games”

Second, the “ABC Games” section is in the “Related Topics” area of the site. These games help to improve phonics and alphabet awareness. Therefore, these games will also help to improve overall reading concepts. For example, a game called “Super Why”on the “PBS” website is about understanding the alphabet. So, any young child can gain essential reading skills from this game.

3) “PBS” Kids- “Vocabulary Games”

Third, the “Vocabulary Games” section is also in the “Related Topics” area. To help improve vocabulary, kids can play over 45 reading games! For example, dinosaurs are fascinating animals. Therefore, in the “Dinosaur Field Guide” game on the “PBS” website, kids can discover harder words. As a result, any young reader will gain essential skills to understanding the words in a story.

4) “PBS” Kids- “Rhyming Games”

Fourth, the “Rhyming Games” is another section of the website’s homepage. They can help with spelling, phonics, and phonemic awareness. In addition, readers who understand the sounds of each letter will be able to make words a lot easier. Therefore, applying spelling skills in a game make this online reading platform a success! For example, a game called “Spectacular Spelling” on the “PBS” website creates an online world of words. As a result, this is a fun approach to reading concepts.

5) “PBS” Kids- “Story Games”

Finally, the “Story Games” section is also on the website’s homepage. Kids can read an interactive story online. Then, answer story related questions at the end. Therefore, young readers will learn important comprehension skills. For example, check out this interactive “Arthur” story on the “PBS” website. As a result, this interactive story experience can help a child achieve his or her reading goals. So, playing these online games can help kids to understand stories better.
