Socrates famously wrote, “The secret of change is to focus all your energy, not on fighting the old, but building the new.”

His words strongly echo what we at Edvent feel. Our story is one of change, evolution and to new beginnings. Back in September 2015, the idea of UniHack was born. Our goal was simple, running innovation and hackathon events up and down the country helping university students develop the skills necessary to become part of the working world and solve some of the world’s biggest problems.

What started as an incubated idea within Pace Ventures led us on a journey working with over 500+ students, 25 educational establishments, 60+ sponsors, 40+ partners by organising 10 hackathon events up and down the UK.

The feedback from students, partners, sponsors, universities and the wider public was fantastic. However, we soon realised our events were providing value to only a small group of young people. How do we become the education company we always dreamed of and how could we scale to a far bigger audience base? These challenges and questions led us down a 6 month research period analysing the results of our pilot, speaking to clients, students and the wider education sector. It is the result of all this work that has led to the creation of our new brand, Edvent.
