8 minutes and 11 repetitions — this is how long it takes to master a vocabulary word with Edwin

Today, we want to take a minute to share with you some quite interesting facts and numbers that we’ve discovered about how you, our students, learn with Edwin.

Ready? Here we go…

⏰ It takes a student only 8 minutes and 11 repetitions to master an English word with Edwin. This is impressive when you consider that to master a word you have to practice all four English skills — reading, listening, writing and speaking. Bravo!

🚀 The most popular learning goal for Edwin’s students is to learn English for the purpose of… travel! Who knew Edwin students were such jetsetters! It’s a smart thing to do — even a bit of English vocabulary can make your trip smoother and more fun!

✅ What a breeze! The easiest task for Edwin students is choosing an English word that describes an image. This is a great way to warm-up before more complicated exercises.

🆘 Keep your ears open! The most difficult exercise proved to be the one where Edwin gives you recordings of English words and asks you to write down what you’ve heard. This exercise is double trouble as it tests two skills at once — you have to be able to recognize the word from the recording and then write it down properly. But, if you ace it, you’ve almost aced the word.

Of course, these numbers represent the average across all our students worldwide, who speak half a dozen languages, at least.

The specifics differ depending on the student’s native language and English proficiency level. Edwin-the-tutor takes these, and many other factors, into consideration when preparing your personal learning plan.

Just to turn aside from the averages… we’d like to take a moment to call out one of our most active students that is anything but average! In fact, one of our students has, just today, taken his 1000th lesson with Edwin. Wow, what an achievement 🏆

All right, students and learners, that’s all for now.
