The results are in on who is awarded their share of the 55K prize pool

Services and dApps powered by the Effect Network are currently under development by hundreds of people around the world, proving that good ideas can come from anywhere given enough time.

Over the course of seven weeks, participants competed against each other to build a winning decentralized application. Because the uses of off-chain data to on-chain smart contracts are limitless, we saw a wide range of projects ranging from using the workforce to play chess to KYC verification to labeling metadata for Shopify webshops.

We organized the hackathon with the purpose of jumpstarting the building of dApps on the Effect Network. We knew that the possibilities of what can be completed with the Effect Network are for now an entirely new concept, which is why we were incredibly excited to get to work on our first hackathon. The EffectDAO sponsored the hackathon in part, bringing the entire prize pool to $55k. We were hoping for just a few quality dApps to be built, but we got so much more!

We had 183 registrants in the hackathon, with 20 submissions meeting the submission criteria. The submissions were high quality, making it extremely challenging to decide on the winners.

Delos is an Effect Network UI, specifically created for image labeling tasks.

The second place winner is Catalogue, an app that connects the store managers of the popular e-commerce platform Shopify to workers on Effect Force who can organize and categorize their store inventories.

Last but not least, Effect Notebooks earned third place. With Effect Notebooks, data scientists can utilize the Effect Force workforce to assist them with data cleaning, which saves the data scientists considerable time.

The EffectDAO is a big part of the Effect Network. There were 40 members of the DAO who took the time to look over each of the submissions and cast their votes, spreading their vote power among seven submissions. These seven projects won a prize by the Effect DAO:

This hackathon absolutely exceeded our expectations and has really demonstrated, with tangible results, what is possible to achieve with the Effect Network. We’d like to thank the EffectDAO, our judges, and all the participants for moving the needle and making the Effect Network just a little more usable.
