The first event of Tel-Aviv Blockchain Week was the Bitcoin Embassy Hackathon of 2019 which was hosted at the Efficient Frontier offices.

Those of the Efficient Frontier team who joined the coding efforts and survived all the 31 hours of the hackathon had the extra fun in the beautiful (at least that’s what everybody was saying ;)) Efficient Frontier offices overlooking the city of Tel-Aviv.

A moment from Block Invaders, the game was the winner of the community prize

The enthusiastic teams worked thought the night of Thursday September 5th and by mid-afternoon of Friday eight teams presented operational Bitcoin-tech based hacks!

The winners of the first prize were En-Lightening, who built a vending machine interface that can safely receive Lightning Network payments while remaining offline, by using a cutting edge cryptographic scheme which was implemented for everyday users for one of the first times ever!

The team shared the prize of 70,000,000 satoshis (equivalents to 7,000$ as of today)

The second prize of 30,000,000 satoshies went to Bitsniff, an original research project determined to detect Bitcoin activity in encrypted network communication.

The bonus prize for a community friendly hack went to the Block Invaders game. The team built over the night a cool space invaders game based on Blockchain information.

On Friday morning Collider Ventures welcomed the early morning /late night hackers to enjoy breakfast on the magnificent 19th floor balcony.

After the 31 hours of community building and hacking, the skyline breakfast and the festive project presentations and awards, the hackers were sent home to get a weekend of rest before the events of Scaling Bitcoin and Blockchain Week and allowed us to re-start our office networks safely.

After we recover from the high energy (and high alcohol content) events of Tel-Aviv Blockchain Week we will return with the full week’s summery.
