3 Ways Mind Mapping Will Help Your Productivity
Add digital mind mapping to your note taking toolbox.
Steve Jobs once declared the ability to connect the dots — to understand multiple disciplines and subjects — to be the marker of intelligence. Breadth, not depth, was what he coveted. This is where mind mapping comes to play, especially for those that are avid note takers.
What is Mind Mapping?
Mind mapping breaks free from traditional linear note taking. You’ll likely recognize it to some extent from brainstorming sessions, either led by a teacher or conducted in a boardroom, written on a whiteboard/chalkboard. Nodules, or nodes, are connected to one another by a line, allowing you to take a keyword/subject/concept/topic and explode it in multiple directions. When you do this digitally, you can connect it with different media.
I collect a lot of things. I store annotated PDFs in a document folder, have thousands of notes in OneNote, an organized website bookmark collection, along with documents from Pages, and Google Docs.
