4 Life Lessons Inspired By Heath Ledger

“Don’t let anyone ever make you feel like you don’t deserve what you want”
The best gift you can give yourself is to acknowledge and appreciate what you have got. There is no reason for you to not look inside yourself, find that one thing that makes you special and harness it to the best of your ability. Don’t worry about how unconventional your talent is because as long as you are confident about it, it is worth a try. It is important to chase your dreams while remembering that not everything that happens with you henceforth will be in your favour, but it will in every possible manner, contribute into making you the person you were meant to be. This is what we learnt from one of the most legendary actors of all times, Heath Ledger. He was an Australian actor and director who always believed that in order to grow it was important to step out of your comfort zone and what others think about you should never even feature in the list of your concerns.
1. Figure out what lights your fire.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step so get started. Life is too short to waste time. Do what you want and don’t let anyone tell you any less.
Heath Andrew Ledger was born on 4 April 1979 in Perth, Australia. Early in life, Ledger found a passion for playing chess. At the age of 10, he won Western Australia’s Junior Chess Championship. It was around this time that he found an interest in becoming a stage performer, as he performed the lead role in Guildford Grammar School’s production of Peter Pan.
2. Channelize all the negative emotions in a positive direction.
Try and fail but don’t fail to try.
At the age of 10 when Ledger was busy growing up and enjoying his life, his parents drifted apart. They finally divorced when he was 11 years of age and it created a lot of negativity in Ledger’s life. He found emotional release in acting, choreography and dance and continued seeking out roles in his grammar school. He also tried his hand on the big screen as an extra in the movie Clowning Around, and later appeared in the TV series Ship To Shore.
3. Chase your dreams.
Dreams come true because without that possibility nature would not incite us to have them.
At age 16, Ledger completed his early graduation exams, and he traveled cross-country to Sydney to pursue an acting career with his long time friend Trevor DiCarlo. He had worked various, small roles in television, and his feature film debut came in 1997 in the emotional drama Blackrock. Despite his young age and relative inexperience, he was soon beating out the Hollywood elite for major roles in blockbuster films.
4. The fruit of labor is always sweet.
Ledger died on 22 January 2008 from an accidental intoxication from prescription drugs. A few months before his death, Ledger had finished filming his performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Ledger received numerous posthumous accolades for his critically acclaimed performance in the film, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, a Best Actor International Award at the 2008Australian Film Institute Awards (for which he became the first actor to win an award posthumously), the 2008 Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actor, the 2009 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor — Motion Picture, and the 2009BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor.
