The Emotional Palette

The foundation of us is slowly blending
through the cracks I am trying to conceal.
I trace your brows and memorize your creases
as I contour the steps I take with you.
My skin blushes at your touch as it blinds my vision.
I gloss over the fact your heat isn’t here,
as it highlights the pain you’ve brushed onto me.
I set my emotions in place but
my tears turn black as the mascara runs.
I take off my mask only to replace it with someone else.
