Weight training workout has become one of the most popular exercise within different ages and genders, nowadays especially for girls. The attraction of muscles especially firm abs and nice butt is one of the reason why most fitness girls are so keen on this type of weight training exercise.

However, generally speaking, in Asian, strength training has created a lot of myths when it comes to women due to the misinformation and misunderstanding, especially this one:

Girls will become bulky like a King Kong (金剛芭比) when they train with strength.

But, is it truth?

Definitely NOT!

Actually, muscles develop by hormone, or are influenced by it.

Hormone in different genders will effect differently in appearance and body. Estrogen, hormone for female, can not build bulky muscles as men on a willowy body. The muscles is just strong and tight to make the body look fit. Therefore, a fitness girl will be really hard to become a King Kong liked muscular queen, unless they work on a specific training which will use medicine to build their body.

Moreover, weight training can improve a particular part of your body shape.

By weight elevation, muscles will grow on the place you would like them to be.

When you train a specific muscle, it will grow because you use it more frequently. Some people say everyone has their own beautiful shape and body, so with some specific training, everyone can be as perfect as they want to be. In other words, weight training just like make-up for girls, with some little tricks, anyone could be their dreamed model.

For some people, exercise can be broadly divided into two category that depends on oxygenation: aerobic and anaerobic workout. Aerobic exercise, or cardio workout, needs heavily breathing and strengthens your heart. Anaerobic exercise, or weight training, stimulates muscles that you need to briefly stop breathing for gaining more energy for the exercise.

But why does weight training be better than cardio workout?

Although a cardio workout burns more calories than a weight-training workout, by weight training, metabolism may stay elevated for longer. That means after weight lifting because of muscle development, your body will naturally burn more calories and can eat more. For example, before metabolism elevation, you can eat no more 1 piece of cheese cake. But today with muscle development, you could eat 3 more and won’t gain weight. By growing your muscle, your body needs more calories to maintain your daily metabolism, so that is the reason why you can eat more and need to eat more.

Fitness is no longer just a men’s exercise.
