About Rails Girls Summer of Code

Rails Girls Summer of Code is an award-winning global fellowship program aimed at bringing more diversity into Open Source. The program welcomes all women and non-binary applicants who want to gain a footing in the world of programming and further expand their knowledge and skills. The focus is on advanced beginners who want to go into programming full-time.

Why do we feel this is important? Besides the obvious benefits of this program helping to diversify the coding field, this program gives us the potential to directly reach new developers who will learn about Electra and the great community we have. This will give us a possible pool of not only new developers, but also new ECA investors!

As a sponsor, we would be putting our name in with the likes of Travis CI, GitHub, and Discourse: all impressive names in the world of development. This initiative fits right in with everything we do, and everything we stand for — Diversity and Progressive Development.
