Tesla model 3 made its first public appearance on July 28, 2017. The whole car is a bit shorter and narrower, much like any other standard city car. This makes for easier maneuvering in city traffic, and with a low centre of gravity. The interior is quite spacious. It fits 5 people comfortably with a generous amount of leg room.The glass panel roof on top allows for natural sunlight and also gives you more headroom. There is storage space available in both the front and back.The Tesla model 3 does not have display in front of steering wheel , which displays the speed, range, energy consumption and direction like the other Tesla Models.
The Model 3 will do 0 –100km /h in under 6 seconds . It comes with rear wheel drive as standard, but you can get front motors as an addition to make it 4WD. It comes with safety features such as automatic braking which prevents accidents.
The charging time for standard model with the home charger with 240V/32 A is 30 miles per hour while the super charger is a bit faster charging 130 miles in 30 minutes time.While the long range model with the home charger with 240V/40A is 37 miles /h and super charger is 170 miles in 30 minutes /h.
Model 3 has 8 cameras, 12 sensors, and forward-facing radar to support Autopilot system. No key fob you can access your car by using smart phone app or programmable ket card with valet mode option.
Its top speed is 140 and its range 310 miles.
There is little between the driver and the expansive view of the road, which takes up most of your field of view thanks to the broad, uninterrupted windshield. It’s very pleasant experience if you even enjoy driving a little bit.The Model 3 feels incredibly light and airy. The dash is pulled ahead and pressed down, but cleverly, the touchscreen is apart from that, close to your right hand.
When you enter the car you will be marveled by the comfort. The seats and steering whee are covered Tesla’s special designed material , which are smooth and comfortable .When you sit at the back of the car you will notice the wood-covered which gives the car big space to the interior. Visibility fore, aft, and up is ample, thanks to a massive two-pane glass roof that also serves to make the more compact rear seating area feel larger.
The seats embrace you in a gentle hug that feels a bit more geared for road trip than racetrack. The open- pore wood gives space warmth and the glass roof makes the cabin feel like an atrium. Model 3 comes with a custom sound system which is designed by Tesla.
The back seat has ample room so you do not have to worry about the space for your legs, there is also flip arm rest that gives your hands place to lean on.With the advance in technology Tesla is parting ways with using keys to lock and unlock the car and instead it will rely on using owner’s phone. Tesla app is more important in the Model 3 it is Bluetooth connected to your phone.
Model 3 Steering wheel has two small dials , each positioned so that you can reach them with your thumbs while still holding the steering wheels . These dials have several uses such as ; you can use it to adjust the position of the steering wheel, scrolling the left side to adjust the height and right side to telescope in and out. They can also be used to adjust the side view mirror , the left controls the left mirror while the right one to tilt the mirrors in and out by pulling and pushing the dials.
It has acceleration of 100km/h( 0–60 mph) in 5.6 seconds and a range of 220 miles on a single charge.
Ride & Handling
The steering ratio is quick, the effort is light, but there’s enough light tremble against your fingers to hear the cornering negotiations between Stunt Road and these 235/40R19 tires. The battery is low under the floor. The Model 3 has low center of gravity .Despite it being lighter it is solid with sharp handling .
Resistive braking slows the vehicle to stop fairly aggressively whenever you remove your foot from the accelerator, if you use it you will never go back to the faux breaks ever. When you take your foot from the gas it slows down hence generating fresh electricity for the batteries. However, the regenerative brakes are weaker. Deceleration is smooth via lifting-throttle regenerative braking but the brake pedal response is smooth and linear .
