Electron Labs announces it’s partnership with Cysic to integrate its hardware acceleration technology into its zk proving system.

Electron protocol uses groth16 bases zk provers, which are powered by Circom and rapidsnark suite of tools. However, when it comes to BFT consensus mechanism, used by Near and Tendermint chains, groth16 is notoriously slow and takes 8 mins to prove a full batch of validators.

To speed up the prover time, Electron Labs will explore Cysic’s MSM and NTT modules to accelerate proof generations for the Electron protocol. This integration will bring down the latency overhead due to proof generation by almost 90% lowering it to less than 1 minute. As a user of Electron bridge, you will experience faster cross-chain transactions from one chain to another, without compromising on security.

In the future, Electron Labs plans to upgrade their zk technology to more recursion-friendly proving systems such as STARK’s + Plonk. While they considered several options, Cysic’s approach to hardware acceleration is agnostic to proving schemes, making them the clear winner.

As Electron Labs prepares for mainnet deployment, stay tuned for their latest announcements and news on their social channels and join their Discord and Telegram channels to stay up-to-date with their progress.

Cysic is a company that specializes in hardware acceleration for zero-knowledge proof (ZKP), a crucial technology utilized in the blockchain industry for enhancing privacy and scalability. They are currently working on FPGA acceleration, while their goal is to design ASICs for ZKP. With their accelerating techniques, the ZKP proof generation time can be significantly reduced.

Electron Labs is an interoperability protocol that uses zero-knowledge and light clients to verify transactions across blockchains in a trustless and secure manner. They are currently live on testnets where users can send asset between Goerli and Near network and experience the power of zk light clients.
