Your Mistakes Have a Mission

“When this had happened, the rest of the sick on the island came and were cured. They honored us in many ways; and when we were ready to sail, they furnished us with the supplies we needed.” (Acts 28:9–10)

In Acts 28, the Apostle Paul was a Roman prisoner being transported to a new location. Paul was doing his best to spread the gospel, but it was on this journey that he and the rest of the ship’s crew encountered a storm and crash landed on the island of Malta.

As if it wasn’t bad enough to be under Roman guard, Paul became a shipwrecked prisoner stranded on an island. And all of it could have been avoided had the crew listened to Paul. (Acts 27:10)

I’m sure you know what it’s like to suffer from someone else’s bad decisions. But what’s interesting, is that whether Paul felt like a victim or not, he didn’t assume the identity of one. Instead of retreating, he went on the offensive. He began praying for and healing all on the island who were sick.

He saw the shipwreck as an opportunity, not an obstacle.

Through Christ, you can have the same perspective today. Whatever you’re going through, you can have confidence that God has a plan for it.

Even your mistakes have a mission. You just have to train your eyes to see them that way.
