Meet the Team: Amber Wustman

Where are you from?
Byron Center, MI!
What is your favorite thing about your job?
I love the chance to be creative in different ways. Everything from crafting financial spreadsheets, 📊 inputting formulas and analyzing data to prepping the office for client visits or employee celebrations and anything in between. No two days are the same.
Favorite hangout outside of work?
In the spring/summer, it’s Brower Park on the Muskegon River. My family has camped there for years ⛺️, and it has become my place to get away. In the fall/winter, it’s whatever ice rink my son is playing hockey on that day.
What are you currently watching on Netflix/Hulu/Standard Tv?
I love sweeping epic dramas like Westworld, Outlander and Handmaid’s Tale or anything in the PBS Masterpiece Series. Since most of those are currently on hiatus I’ve recently been binging “Game of Thrones” as a refresher before the final season.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be and why?
How to knit or crochet. I would love to be able to make something beautiful that can be enjoyed for years to come 🧶.
What’s your secret talent that nobody knows about?
I can play the piano 🎹 (not especially well anymore, but I’ve recently started back up). I took ten years of lessons and used to compete/perform at St. Cecelia.
Where do you find inspiration?
My family 👨👩👦👦, especially my children. Seeing the world through their eyes allows me to look at things with more innocence and excitement than I might otherwise.
Any role models or mentors?
My parents and grandparents have been the biggest role models in my life. They have been such an inspiration for how I hope to live my life and raise my family.
If you had to describe yourself as 3 foods what would you choose and why?
Mashed potatoes, tacos, and coffee.
Mashed potatoes 🥔— It’s my go-to comfort food and I’ve always had a tendency to want to comfort and care for those around me.
Tacos 🌮 — The shell is always the same, but inside can be unexpected and changes from day to day.
Coffee ☕️— It takes me a little bit to get going, but then I’m full of energy.
What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this?
Librarian or Museum Curator 📚. Reading is my favorite personal pastime; I would love the opportunity to not only surround myself with books day after day but to share my love of books and reading with others. History has always been my passion, I even have a B.A. in history, being able to pass on that love through the care and showcasing of artifacts and knowledge that may not otherwise be seen/known speaks to me.
If you could splurge on one must-have item, what would it be?
A trip to Europe 🏰(Greece, Italy, Croatia, and Turkey especially). I’ve always loved being able to combine my love of history and travel. Having the chance to walk the same ground as those I’ve spent years studying, to see in person the architecture and to experience just a touch of those cultures is at the top of my bucket list.
