Meet the Team: Tara Buchler

Happy Tuesday! This week we are featuring our Director of Client Services, Tara from Hudsonville, MI.

What is your favorite thing about your job and/or working at EU?

The team -being surrounded by smart, articulate people that are passionate about what they do, and how they do it. 🎉

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be and why?

I would learn to golf. It’s outdoors, has the potential to be a lifelong hobby with low risk of injury, is difficult to master, and you get to drive a golf cart. I think I just convinced myself to set up a lesson… ⛳️

If you had to describe yourself as a food what would you choose and why?Candied Bacon — sweet but also a little salty 🥓
Bloody Mary — a fun addition to any meal, any time of day 🍹

Favorite hangout outside of work?

Really anywhere with my family — in the summertime, we enjoy being outside riding bikes and swimming, or just playing in our yard with our neighbors. In the winter, we end the work week with Friday Night Movie Night, complete with a fire and popcorn. 🏊‍

What are you currently watching on Netflix/Hulu/Standard Tv?
🍿 I personally don’t know anyone that still uses traditional cable. My family just cut the cord and transitioned to Direct TV Now about a year ago. We only made the switch after it was guaranteed we could still watch all Big 10 sporting events (go green!). I just wrapped up The Handmaids Tale on Netflix — I was a latecomer to that party. I needed something a little lighter after that experience, so have transitioned over to various stand up shows on Netflix (Hannah Gadsby, Ali Wong) and The Bold Type on Hulu.

What’s your secret talent that nobody knows about?

Picking good recipes, defined as good ingredients, reasonable in execution and taste delicious. I almost always pick winners, whether the source is a cookbook, Pinterest or just a random search on the internet. 🍴

Where do you find inspiration?

Mentors in and out of my area of expertise. I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by so many intelligent people that are also great friends. They inspire me to not only be a better professional through productive tension, encouragement, and opportunities, but they are also genuinely good people that I love spending time with.

What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this?

A librarian — surrounded by books all day long! 📚

If you could splurge on one must-have item, what would it be?
Wireless noise canceling headphones — I currently have a pair and they are great for travel, or heads down work. If this pair ever gives up, I’m definitely investing in another set.
