Stratis (STRAT) is a blockchain development platform, designed with the financial services industry primarily in mind. Based in the U.K., Stratis engineers tools aimed to make blockchain more useful and user-friendly, allowing enterprises to seamlessly integrate this emerging technology into their existing processes and systems.

The Stratis ecosystem is comprised of several key aspects:

  1. nStratis
  2. $STRAT
  3. Stratis Academy

Each of these elements is designed to provide significant value to uses individually, but when used in tandem, their full potential is realized.

Furthermore, since the original platform release, Stratis has continued to develop additional service verticals including their most recent release of the Stratis ICO platform, and Stratis Smart Contracts, respectively.

nStratis

nStratis is the company’s enterprise-facing blockchain development platform. It is designed to fulfill the needs of financial services companies, and meant to be used in tandem with these companies’ existing infrastructure systems. Built in C# .Net, nStratis can be quickly integrated into most financial systems, the majority of which are also engineered in one, or both of these programming languages.

When building the nStratis platform, the Stratis team understood the diversity and specificity of financial enterprise needs. A challenge facing one of these companies is often unique against the backdrop of the industry in general, based on the company’s specific product offering. It is for this reason that nStratis is designed with a robustness, rarely seen in the blockchain development industry.

Features of nStratis are expansive, but the following is a short list of some of the most compelling aspects of the platform:

  • A Rest Client
  • The signing and verification with private keys (with support for compact signatures) for proving ownership
  • Payment Protocol (BIP 70)
  • Two-Factor keys (BIP 38)

A seamless end-to-end solution for data management and transaction execution frees financial institutions from needing to invest in personnel and processes solely focused on allowing incongruent systems to interact. nStratis represents not just an efficient means to operate core functions, but also a clear-cut cost saving opportunity.

$STRAT

STRAT is the cryptocurrency of Stratis. Operated via a Proof of Stake (POS) algorithm, STRAT is designed to maintain a diminished degree of inflation, and to transact with speed and consistency. The Stratis ecosystem is meant to be operated with STRAT at the core of all transactions and communications throughout the network.

Like the nStratis platform, the STRAT also has C# .Net programming at its core, meaning a far larger community of developers is already qualified to work with Stratis, especially compared to Ethereum and its programming language, Solidity.

The token was created on top of the Nbitcoin protocol, meaning STRAT operates according to many of the core features of blockchain’s original vision, such as decentralization and immutability.

Stratis Academy

The Stratis Academy is an umbrella terms referring to all services offered by Stratis to promote blockchain development growth on the Stratis platform. The Academy provides individual developers, and enterprise engineering team, alike, with resources, information and tools to empower their ability to successfully build applications using the platform’s integrations.

Starting in Q2 2018, Stratis began offering the Stratis Academy Certification, an education program meant to prepare developers for a career in blockchain. The program combines educational materials, personal mentoring, and constructive testing to give the emerging generation of developers the experience needed to create blockchain-based applications (Dapps).

In addition to serving as an educational resource for current and aspiring Dapp developers, the Academy will also be leveraged as a support feature for platform use by enterprises. Put another way, companies engaging with Stratis will be able to train their employees on system integrations and best practices using the Stratis Academy program, to improve results, and explore new integrations of the technology.

Stratis

Stratis is one example of a small group of companies, like Ark, working to make blockchain more accessible to enterprises. The company’s specific aim to support the financial services industry has shaped the design and development of the platform to more seamlessly integrate with these institutions existing infrastructure.

If blockchain plays as significant role in business as current trends indicate it will, Stratis may lead the movement towards shaping how financial industry works in the forthcoming decades.
