Eligma is a very complex project, comprised of several large components. This is the reason why leaders from very different IT-areas are involved in the project. We wanted to introduce you to some of those people and give you a behind-the-scenes look at how Eligma is being developed. Our first such interview was conducted with our Chief Technical Officer, Alexander Danilov.

Hi, Alex. First things first. How did you initially become involved with Eligma?

I met with Eligma’s CEO Dejan in Kiev last November. He invited me for a meeting and explained what Eligma will be all about. I was immediately sold on the idea and decided to join the team.

What previous experience do you bring to the project?

I have 14 years of experience in development, 5 years in team leading and 3 years in solution architecture. I have worked on projects in very different fields, for example billing systems, social networks, e-commerce and SaaS solutions.

What do your tasks at Eligma include?

If we take a closer look at Eligma, we see that it will consist of several complex services working seamlessly together. My responsibility are data collection services that receive vast amounts of product data from suppliers and partners, including descriptions, prices, images and offers. These services try to match that data with existing records in our database using machine learning algorithms.

What will this data be used for?

This data will be used for assuring that our users receive the best possible search results and are shown product profiles with the most suitable descriptions and images. It will also be used for training our AI through machine learning algorithms.

What more of your role can you tell us?

I will also oversee services that help with maintaining Eligma’s components. These services monitor, check and verify quality and availability of internal and external services. We are making every possible effort to ensure our users will receive data of the highest quality.

You will be leading a group of developers on site. How many people will it include? What qualities do you search for in developers?

We want to start with a small group of developers to build the core of our services and then scale our group as the requirements grow. We are looking for people with a lot of experience in the required fields, however it is also very important that they fit well with other team members as we want to build a company where transparency and understanding are paramount.

What is the most important thing regarding communication? How do you insure it?

We will be using the AGILE methodologies and the Scrum framework for efficient communication and development processes. We will be conducting daily stand-ups, where every developer will be able to share his results with other team members, further improving transparency within our team. We will also be using weekly sprints to launch new features or improvements of existing ones as often as possible.

Alex, thank you for your time and the best of luck on the journey ahead of you.
