A Special Thank You to Node Applicants!
Applications to the Elixxir BetaNet exceeded our wildest expectations, and we have you to thank! We were able to close out Step 2 of the 6-step BetaNet rollout on April 19th with 870 applications across over 80 countries!
For those of you new to Elixxir’s BetaNet rollout, the process was modeled after the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) protocol used to standardize the early internet. Made of up 6 steps, the Elixxir BetaNet selection process was designed to remove the core team’s influence over selection by opening applications to community feedback and review.
Step 2, the application phase, was open from February 18th to April 19th in order to receive enough quality applicants for the ultimate selection of 100 BetaNet nodes. We expected somewhere between 200–300 applications would make up the community selection pool for those 100 BetaNet nodes. You blew our expectations out of the water.
350% more applications were submitted than anticipated, covering a truly diverse subset of countries. Of the 870 total applications, 640 were submitted by potential node operators based outside the United States, with the United States, Russia, the U.K., Canada, Germany, Australia, Turkey, China, the Netherlands, and Brazil making up the top 10 markets.
We couldn’t be happier with the support this rollout process has received so far, and are excited about what this means for the potential of the Elixxir platform. Elixxir’s metadata-resistant, privacy-first approach to transaction processing mirrors a global shift in consumer preference toward privacy-preserving technologies which protect consumer freedom online. Between David’s expertise, the quality of our core team’s product, and the overwhelming support by our community the future looks bright for Elixxir.
So again — thanks for the support through the first 2 steps of the Elixxir BetaNet rollout, and keep an eye out for more information about the launch of step 4 of the 6-step process: the publication of anonymized applications for community review on May 9th.
