ICYMI, Baal (Founder, Elk Finance) took to Twitter early last week and unleashed a maelstrom of tweets outlining Elk’s ambitious plans to capture the cross-chain market in 2022. It’s filled with all sorts of alpha, so it’s definitely worth a close read.

One key element that was missing from Baal’s thread was how Elk intends to spread the word about…Elk. Up to now, we’ve taken a mostly organic approach to marketing, relying on word-of-mouth and allowing the strength of the product to speak for itself. While ElkNet and the unmatched #ElkHerd will remain our best marketers, we also recognize that the best tech doesn’t always win out [insert Betamax reference]. With that in mind, we’re making marketing a higher priority for 2022. Here’s some of what’s in store:

Elk Marketing: 2022 Roadmap

The marketing budget is increasing 2.5x compared to 2021. Funds will be directed in five main areas: Paid Ads, Social Media Campaigns, PR/Media Outlets (Crypto and Tradition), and Community Campaigns, and a new Ambassador / Affiliate program.

  • Paid Ads will target commonly used DeFi utilities (blockchain explorers, portfolio trackers, indexers) along with other hubs for crypto activity (CT, Google Search and more)
  • Social Media Campaigns will focus on garnering high quality mentions and link-backs from high follower accounts, with a rotating emphasis on cultivating communities on specific chains
  • The broader PR push will involve promoting feature articles and major launch announcements on key outlets for crypto news (HackerNoon, DefiPulse, DappRadar, CoinTelegraph) along with traditional news outlets (Yahoo! Finance, Bloomberg Business, Weibo)
  • Upcoming Community Campaigns will aim to expand Elk’s community while also rewarding the existing community through airdrops, contests, NFTs, and more. These types of community campaigns have historically been where we’ve excelled (think Elk Season, Elk Rush xDai, CronosMas, etc.), and we plan to continue to find new ways to make Elk the community hub for multi-chain activity.
  • Finally, we are planning to launch a brand new Elk Ambassador / Affiliate program. This will provide incentivized opportunities for members of the community to spread the good word in a more coordinated manner.

Elk’s new website tagline, “Where All Chains Meet,” not only reflects our mission to expand into every corner of crypto; it also embodies our commitment to making our Telegram and Discord communities a unique access point for multi-chain info and discussion.

Case-in-point: as you may have seen, the price of $FUSE increased over 400% shortly after we deployed on their network. Those who have been in the Elk community for previous launches know well that this isn’t an uncommon phenomenon (see: Polygon, Fantom, Cronos). In each case, members of the community new and old were able to discuss the hype around these emerging chains.

While Elk doesn’t own sole credit for these price dynamics in every case, one thing is clear: it pays to be part of the Elk community.

  • Farming Round 10 begins on Saturday. Watch out for a post later this week with updates to farms and emissions
