Introducing VRV…

06–14–2016 | Michael Aragon

When I left my role at the PlayStation Network seven months ago, I was leaving a wonderful group of people and an incredible platform behind. What I learned throughout my eight years at PlayStation working on various initiatives in video, music, and original content was that the next generation of content consumers are passionate, community-oriented fans whose entertainment habits go far deeper than a simple lean back experience of watching their favorite TV show or movie, listening to their favorite band, or reading their favorite graphic comic. I also had a front row seat to watch how the Crunchyroll team built an incredibly popular service based on their fervent fanbase — and they were always among the most popular applications among the gaming audience.

So when Tom Pickett asked me to be a part of his team that would build off the momentum of Crunchyroll to super-serve an even broader audience…I was all in. VRV (pronounced “Verve”) is the culmination of months of intense work, and we’re thrilled to officially announce this exciting platform.

Today, we’re giving you the first look at VRV, our platform of handpicked channels dedicated to serving members of the fandom. Authentic channels known for delivering anime, animation, games, comedy, fantasy, technology, and more. A gathering place where you can discover new channels to love, interact with fellow fans, and engage with creators on a deeper level.

Alongside our very own Crunchyroll, we’ll be working with channel partners including Rooster Teeth, Seeso, Nerdist Alpha, and Geek & Sundry Alpha who are all producing new and better shows for our audience. We are excited to announce that Cartoon Hangover will be coming to VRV as their exclusive new home. Our partners will bring premium shows to VRV including Berserk, Cyanide & Happiness, Red vs. Blue, RWBY, and Bravest Warriors, and new show concepts like Day 5 and Crunch Time, with new episodes and series premiering every week. And, we’re not done…we are working on bringing our fans even more channels that we will announce in the upcoming months.

VRV viewers will have the option to subscribe to the full, premium offerings á la carte or to select channels in a bundle, with prices announced soon. Our channels will also have content available for free, with ads. VRV will initially be available in the US on mobile and living room devices so fans can access their desired shows wherever and whenever they want. We will also offer customizable features to ensure our audience has the personalized experience they’ve grown to love on Crunchyroll.

VRV will be your new home for your favorite channels, events, and communities, and we’re excited to invite you to join us later this year…stay up-to-date with the latest VRV announcements by registering at VRV.co.
