A Homeless Man Put a Gun to My Back
And my trust in blind faith changed his life
Getting a tattoo requires trust. Trust in the artist’s ability, skill, and in previous client’s recommendations.
But letting a homeless man in a developing country ink up a large part of your back? That can only be defined as a complete and utter dive into blind faith…or just plain stupidity.
My tattoo is far from perfect, just like the man who gave it to me.
It was a smokin’ hot day in Jamaica, just like all the other days.
I’d been out running errands, avoiding eye contact with downtrodden locals who beg for money in tourist towns. Although it’s heartbreaking, if you’re not selective, you’ll end up giving all your money away and being homeless yourself.
However, one man approached me who seemed very different.
He was just as dirty, thin, and tattered as the rest of them but I could tell from the minute he opened his mouth that he was unlike the others.
