Lone Wolves Are Just Looking For Love
The term ‘lone wolf’ doesn’t mean what you think
Some people have picked up a lot of weird beliefs about wolves. You’ve read all the nonsense about alphas and betas some men still try to apply to each other. And then there is the celebrated Lone Wolf.
We think of this lone wolf as being a tough guy who doesn’t need anyone else. He can handle everything on his own and he prefers it that way.
But that’s not how the wolves see it
Lone wolves don’t leave the pack of their birth because they want to be alone forever. They go off alone to start a new pack somewhere else. Sometimes they do this to find a mate or after their original mate dies.
For wolves, going off alone is a dangerous undertaking, but it’s a necessary part of building a new pack so they can fulfill their social needs. The lone wolves accept this risk not in order to be alone but so they won’t be.
Humans aren’t wolves
But we do have some similarities. Humans have been on the move for as long as we’ve been humans. Our ancestors moved to find better hunting, to put some distance between themselves and a tribe they clashed with, and yes, to find new marriage partners.
