I never imagined that the television sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine would teach me valuable life lessons. But that’s exactly what happened! From Jake Peralta’s antics to Captain Holt’s deadpan humor, this show has provided me with more than just laughter.

Here are some of the lessons I’ve learned from my favorite characters:

Be confident like JAKE PERALTA

Jake Peralta, played by Andy Samberg, is the ultimate example of confidence. He’s a talented detective who never shies away from a challenge, and he knows he’s good at what he does. Even when he makes a mistake, he’s quick to bounce back and try again.

The man exudes confidence like he’s been bathing in it since birth. He’s the kind of guy who can walk into a room and own it, no matter who else is there. And that’s a skill that I think we could all learn from.

Just think about it: when Jake is on a case, he’s laser-focused on solving it. He’s not afraid to take risks, and he always trusts his instincts.

Remember that time he went undercover as a prison inmate to catch a perp? He didn’t flinch for a second. And when he accidentally let a criminal escape? Did he let it get him down? No way! He bounced right back and got back to work.

Whenever I’m feeling unsure of myself, I channel my inner Jake and remind myself that I’ve got this!

Take risks like ROSA DIAZ

Rosa Diaz, played by Stephanie Beatriz, is one tough cookie. She’s not afraid to take risks and go after what she wants, whether it’s in her personal or professional life. Her confidence in her abilities and willingness to push boundaries inspires me to do the same.

I mean, have you seen the way Rosa tackles dangerous suspects without breaking a sweat? That’s some serious risk-taking right there! But it’s not just in the field where she takes risks.

Remember when she decided to come out as bisexual to her colleagues and family? Talk about putting it all on the line. But Rosa did it with grace and bravery, proving that taking risks can lead to some pretty incredible outcomes.

So, next time you’re faced with a risky situation, channel your inner Rosa and go for it. Who knows, you might just surprise yourself with what you’re capable of!

Be organized like CAPTAIN HOLT

Captain Holt, played by Andre Braugher, may be a stickler for rules, but he’s also incredibly organized. From his color-coded binders to his impeccable filing system, he’s a model of efficiency. While I may not have the same level of organization as Captain Holt, I’ve definitely picked up some tips from him.

He once scolded Scully and Hitchcock off for breaking the rules in the evidence room, and it made me reflect. I can certainly keep my desk neat if Captain Holt can maintain order in an evidence room.

And let me tell you, it has changed everything. In order to find my pen or that report I need to file, I no longer have to go through stacks of paper. Captain Holt, many thanks!

Don’t take yourself too seriously like TERRY JEFFORDS

Terry Jeffords, played by Terry Crews, is a total badass. He’s a former football player turned police sergeant, and he’s always ready to take down the bad guys.

But despite his tough exterior, he’s not afraid to let loose and have a little fun. His ability to balance work and play reminds me to take a step back and not take myself too seriously.

One of my favorite examples of Terry’s ability to let loose is in the episode where he and Captain Holt go undercover in a prison. Despite the serious nature of their mission, Terry can’t help but show off his dance moves when “Thong Song” comes on the radio. It’s moments like these that remind me that even when things are tough, it’s important to find joy in the little things.

And let’s not forget Terry’s love for yogurt. He’s always carrying around a tub of the stuff, and his passion for it is contagious. Watching Terry enjoy his yogurt is like watching someone experience true bliss.

It reminds me that even in the midst of a hectic day, taking a moment to savor something you enjoy can make all the difference!

Support your friends like THE ENTIRE SQUAD

One of the best things about “Brooklyn 99” is the squad’s unwavering support for one another. Whether it’s Jake and Charles’ bromance, Rosa and Gina’s girl power, or Terry and Captain Holt’s unlikely friendship, the squad always has each other’s backs.

The squad’s fellowship so strong, it’s almost enough to make you want to join the NYPD. Almost. But seriously, watching them have each other’s backs no matter what is a great reminder of the importance of friendship.

They’re always quick to celebrate each other’s accomplishments, no matter how small, and they rally around each other during tough times. It’s like a big, dysfunctional family — but with less drama and more detective work. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want a friend like Gina? She’s a whole mood!

Whether we’re facing a challenging situation at work or in our personal lives, we can all benefit from channeling our inner “Brooklyn 99” characters. So, the next time you’re in need of some inspiration, turn on an episode of “Brooklyn 99” and see what valuable lesson you can learn.

Hope this gave your jaw a pleasure of laughter, or as Peralta would say, “Title of your sex tape!”
