DOES THE LAW OF ATTRACTION REALLY WORK? — YONAKA’S ON-SCREEN RIDE TO ROCKSTARDOM

If you told me you never dreamt of becoming a rockstar when you were a kid, I wouldn’t believe you. Most of us had bedrooms decorated with posters of our idols because we wanted to be like them, even if only for a while. Life usually gets in the way, we become lawyers or architects (both very important professions, mind you), except for those craziest few who really do become rockstars. In today’s article we follow Yonaka’s lead and we unapologetically put our heads up in the clouds.

Do you remember the joy of dancing tirelessly, pretending to be killing it on stage like rockstars do? Yonaka’s new release is an upbeat rendition of those carefree moments (or anger outbursts, depending on how you were utilizing the power of music). It presents the before and after, the dream and its fulfillment. In the video we see Theresa fantasizing in her room, excitement slowly creeping in on her face as she starts to sing, so just lately, I’ve been beat down, I picked my head up, put it up in the clouds, wrap my dreams around something so clear, how can it feel so far but so near?

To dip your toe in the craziest reveries your mind can produce is probably the most liberated a person can feel. “Rockstar” is an ode to the freedom of wild ambition. When you lean on your dream, count on it, invest your time and energy in it, you’re going against the stream and it feels right, doesn’t it? It’s the ride of a lifetime, a house up on Mars, all the fun with no price tag. Take a deep breath, you’re about to be blinded by lights of your success, they’ll be screaming your name and nothing else matters.

Nothing else matters…

DOES THE LAW OF ATTRACTION REALLY WORK? — YONAKA’S ON-SCREEN RIDE TO ROCKSTARDOM

This depiction of Theresa’s on-screen journey from a wish to a dream come true is a rendezvous of overlapping realities, the best of both worlds concocting in one video. One might even argue that the story is a testimony to the (in)famous law of attraction, i.e. picturing yourself where you want to be in order for the universe to know what wish to grant. Whether you believe in such things or not, “Rockstar” is the proof many artists need — it is possible to end up where you want to be if you’re willing to follow your dream against all odds.

Yonaka has been successfully growing into a legendary band for many months now and I sincerely hope they realize how many people they have impacted so far. With pieces like “Rockstar” they give their audience much needed hope and light in the tunnel. This is the most beautiful gift we can receive from the ones who already shine in the spotlight of their fulfilled dreams.
