We asked and we received! Our rambunctious and feisty Banks is back with her brand new single “Gimme”. This is the first material since her 2017 single “Underdog” and it was worth the wait. The song, kept in the singer’s usual electronically powerful vibe, is the embodiment of everything we love about this artist; self-confidence, strong femininity and dark poetry. It feels really good to have you back, Banks.
Since her first releases we’ve known this girl to produce very mature material. Spiced with mystery and a little gloom, she has proved her art to be unapologetically strong. Banks is a ferocious black panther who does not mince her words, chooses to be blunt and stands her ground. Her art is therefore bold and rough-around-the-edges true. With her new single she once again aims at ruffling a few feathers encouraging people to stop f***ing around and even call her a “bitch” if they see fit.
The song is clearly erotic, the lyrics, as do certain sounds involved in the bridge, speak for themselves, yet there’s more to the story. “It makes me feel powerful and I hope it does the same for you. It’s about knowing what you deserve and saying it out loud with pride”, said Banks about this single. And we can certainly feel the empowerment to own our desires and decisions speaking to us from this song with a very demanding title. Know what you want? Great! Now you only need to ask but ask in a very persuasive way. The essence of this exciting new song is a bit rough, a great deal provocative, interesting and very serious. Banks reminded us how fun it is to have her around and now more is what we want, what we deserve.
The song has already been streamed over a million times. So far, it has also been confirmed that we will be getting a full album from Banks this year, however, the exact date remains a secret. Hopefully, not for too long as we only have one thing to say about our impatience for new music, GIMME!
