5 quotes that will make you a better human being.
I guarantee it.
One of my favourite things to do when I have a bit of free time is collect quotes. And whether that quote be eye-opening, inspiring or motivational, I’ll write it down on a little index card for future reference. I’ve found that writing a memorable quote down allows it to have an even deeper impact.
A lot of the quotes come from reading, because reading is undoubtedly one of the most important things you can do with your time. Turns out it’s quite beneficial to be able to consume the printed thoughts of the entire human race from the comfort of wherever you fancy.
The quotes below are those I’ve stumbled upon over the last few years and never forgotten. They’ve made me a better person and improved my outlook on life. I’m hoping they’ll do the same for you too.
Start with attitude.
“We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are in charge of our attitudes.”
- Charles R. Swindoll
Let your ambition lead you.
“All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.”
- T. E. Lawrence
Dream without boundaries.
“We really live by our fantasies when we give free reign to them.”
- Andre Breton
Don’t let the past limit your future.
“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Read, know, learn, go.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
- Dr. Seuss
