Freelance-A-Lot

Even though I only freelance-a-little.

When’s the next one? I asked Col Skinner, founder and organiser of Freelance-A-Lot, way back in April.

I’m not sure, he replied.

Five months.

Five months is how long I’ve — we’ve — all had to wait for the next event. And a lot has changed in five months.

Tonight though, Freelance-A-Lot returned. And it was just as good as the first event, if not better.

Freelance-A-Lot is a learning and networking event by freelancers (mainly Col) for freelancers. There are talks — this time on financials, work/business development balance and what not to do as a freelancer — and plenty of networking alongside good food and drink.

Oh, and there’s also an open mic section for people to promote themselves or ask for help/advice/a business partner.

Basically, it’s everything you’d want in freelancing event.

That’s Katy. She makes Squarespace websites and helped Col organise the event.

As for the venue (called Workplace): absolutely stunning.

Check out the website below to see for yourself, but it’s owned by three hoteliers so you can imagine how much of a co-working paradise it is.

Totally immaculate, too. That’s rare.

I’m hoping the wait for Freelance-A-Lot #3 is much shorter than five months, but if you’re a freelancer in Manchester, or thinking of taking that leap, keep your eyes peeled. This is a must-attend event.

Just real quick, here are a load of links to the Twitter profiles of people/places related to Freelance-A-Lot.

Also, Col has metal business cards now. METAL.

Thanks for reading Chapter 122!
