Social media is a mess.

On Facebook, brands and pages post content in an effort to grab a tiny slice of our attention, but they rarely interact with us.

On Twitter, some people have tens of thousands of followers, but all they do is throw content at those followers.

On Instagram, users post plenty of photos with plenty of hashtags, but there’s little to no authentic interaction between people.

Social media is no longer social. It’s just a lot of media.

There’s a chasm between what should be done and what is being done.

Everyone wants attention, nobody wants to talk about it.

So I ask of you — I beg of you — start spending less time putting out content and expecting people to care.

Instead, go and show that you care about those people you’re trying to get the attention of.

Spend some time engaging with others, rather than expecting them to engage with you, and the results will start to show.

Let’s bring the social back to social media.

Hey, thanks for reading Chapter 152! Catch you all on the flippity flip.

Using Buffer, love it. Not using it so I can leave social media alone and only talk at people, using it so I have more time to engage and interact with people.
