What happens when you feel like no one cares?

There’s something that isn’t discussed much amongst creatives and it’s this:

What happens when you feel like no one cares?

You know, those times when you’re posting drawings, creating videos or writing blog posts and nothing seems to stick. The content is there, but it’s not really being consumed.

‘No one cares’ is what the creative thinks.

Why? Because creatives have big egos that need to be stroked and handled with care.

It’s not a bad thing. Successful creatives have big egos.

But when no one consumes the content of a creative, the ego isn’t getting the attention it desires. Without consumption, the ego just shrivels up and cries.

‘No one cares’ is what the creative thinks.

But it only cries for a short time, because it’s okay to have a battered ego. It’s okay to be frustrated at the viewing statistics of your content. It’s okay to not be happy with what currently is.

And it’s okay because you know what needs to be done. You know that it’s just another problem to solve.

With each problem comes more motivation to get shit done and build what needs to be built because creatives find a way. And if there is no way, they blaze a path.

The path can be well-lit or shrouded in darkness. It can be narrow and difficult to navigate or it can be wide and effortless. Sometimes the path is right in front of you, but you’re just not ready to see it yet.

Either way, the path is always there, and persistent and resilient people know that as fact.

Even if you feel like no one cares now, you can never give up believing that eventually they will.
