Auguste Rodin | ElmonX The Gates of Hell
The Gates of Hell is a monumental sculptural work by the French artist Auguste Rodin, created between 1880 and 1917. It depicts a scene from Dante Alighieri’s Inferno, with various figures and motifs symbolising the torments of the damned and the chaos of the underworld. The central figures on the gates are “The Thinker” and “The Kiss,” which are separate sculptures that Rodin later incorporated into the design.
The Gates of Hell is characterised by its intricate details and dramatic composition, with writhing bodies and contorted expressions conveying the agony and despair of the damned. The figures on the gates range from classical mythological characters to contemporary people, all of whom are depicted in various states of suffering and anguish. The gates themselves are massive, standing over 20 feet tall and weighing several tons.
Rodin intended the Gates of Hell to be the centrepiece of a museum that was never built, and the sculpture remained unfinished at the time of his death. Nevertheless, it remains one of his most iconic works and a powerful representation of the concept of the Gates of Hell in art.

In order to qualify for the free airdrop, it was necessary to own ‘ElmonX The Thinker’
The snapshot was taken at 1:18PM BST Thursday, 27th July 2023. The airdrop was distributed on the Sun, 30th July 2023.
Additional Information
ElmonX will retain mints 1–5 and 30 other randomly assigned mints.
The distribution of mint editions is random and not based on the order of purchase.
The airdrop contains the 2D image only, this will be removed and updated to the 3D version in the near future.
