You may wonder what “Y-Combinator” and “Startup School” are actually about?

Making a long story short: Y-Combinator is a Silicon Valley accelerator, which spawned a number of highly successful companies including Airbnb, Dropbox and Stripe, in Mountain View, California. Its startup school is an online program teaching teams around the world the most important entrepreneurial cornerstones.

After completing startup school’s 10-week course, our team finally graduated on Monday! The course included three presentations each week, but also an “office hour” every Sunday, which gave us the chance to meet like-minded early-stage entrepreneurs and discuss each company’s latest developments.

During these then weeks, we had the great opportunity to participate and learn from the best of the best of California’s startup landscape. Among the high-class presenters were for instance Paul Graham and the CEOs of Weebly (acquired by Square for $365M), Gobble, Mixpanel and Stripe, who managed to nurture multimillion-dollar companies from scratch. That way we had the chance to learn from their successes and failures, but a light was also shed on things that they would do differently if they had the chance to do them again.

The fascinating talks ranged from topics on product building, finding product market fit, managing user growth, measuring performance, design, sales, building an engineering team to fundraising.

For our team the created value has been immense. Not only did we strengthen our practical knowledge on top of our theoretical fundamentals, but we also grew our corporate network further beyond the Swedish borders.

Let’s see where the entrepreneurial endeavors take us in the future. We are sure to not lose sight of Y-Combinator’s batches every year!
