Being so close to finishing off my freshman year of college, I have decided to reflect on my experience throughout the year with the incorporation of GIFs to spice it up a bit. These are just some of the encounters I had throughout the year.

  1. Having to wake up for an 8 am

One of the hardest realities to face in college is 8 am’s. It can really tough dragging out of bed for an early class. This will become even harder towards the end of the semester.

2. Writing a paper the night before it is due

This is not a good idea & is not recommended. Waiting the night before to write a paper or even just complete an assignment can be tedious. It takes a lot of extra effort and thinking to get the job done. The quality of the work will not express its full potential. Your brain will be fried because it’s like you’re trying to force a million thoughts and ideas to come out at once.

3. Having a parking pass but can’t park anywhere on campus

This is so annoying having the ability to have a car on campus but can’t drive to any of your classes. If you test your luck with this rule, you are bound to get a parking ticket or even worse.

4. When you don’t understand what’s going on in class

It can be frustrating and a moment of mazes when you don’t understand what’s going on in the class. The worst is when you try all you can to understand the material but you’re still lost.

5. Going to class just to take notes off of a powerpoint

This is one of the things you will find useless in college. You would rather be in your room comfortably doing the very thing you walked to class to do. It’s repetitive & can make the class very drawn out. It’s hard to keep full attention the whole time when you're just writing notes from a powerpoint.

6. Taking a test that covers exactly what you learned in the class

How awesome is it when the test actually reflects the study guide! This a feeling of relief when you can stress-free attempt a test without confusion.

7. Class conflicting with dining hall times

Finding the perfect balance between your class schedule & eating schedule can be hard. The times can conflict so often and it can be overwhelming. It sucks the most when the times you finally do have time to grab a bite you have to wait forever because everyone is literally getting out of class at the same time so the cafe is crowded.

8. Getting the email saying you have mail

It’s the best feeling when you’ve been waiting on a package & got an email confirmation that it has arrived. College doesn’t allow you to just walk down the driveway to the mailbox. The process can be a little more time-consuming.

9. Having to pack/unpack for breaks

This is one of the most stressful and exciting experiences of being a college student. The packing part is fun because you’re filled with overexcitement to get home to your family and friends. The unpacking part is the drag. It is the part that reminds you you’re back away from home. It is the part you don’t want to face. It requires a lot of patience and time to reorganize all your drawers and closet space in your room with your clothes.

10. Freshman 15

Snacks and more snacks are essential to freshman. With conflicting eating schedules, you learn to always keep some sort of munchies in your room. With the idea of eating junk food as late night snacks when you’re up studying or doing an assignment contributes to the idea of “freshman 15”. You’re away from home so food options aren’t as gourmet and home-cooked as your use to. You will learn to adjust to eating a lot of fast food.

11. Getting an email that class is canceled

This is one of the best feelings, especially when you’re really tired or need to catch up on other things. Getting that extra power nap will never fail you when class is canceled.

12. On the first day of class deciding where to sit

This is an awkward situation when you walk in the class on the first day. You’re trying to check out the scene & pick a designated seat that you know you won’t regret picking later on.

13. Ice breakers on the first day of class

This is the last thing you want to hear a teacher say on the first day. It’s also an awkward situation. All eyes are on you as you take the floor when speaking. Don’t get me wrong, it can be indeed an ice breaker. It is just one of those things you pretend to like even though you’re not too thrilled about doing it.

14. Walking to class in the rain

Who likes walking to class in the rain? Who likes walking to class in the rain when your class is nowhere near your dorm. The rain can be an evil creature and appear at the wrong times. This is just one of the obstacles you will face in college. It will be annoying but hey, on the bright side you will learn to walk faster!

15. Sharing a living space with multiple people

This can be the most difficult experiences of them all. Sharing a space with other people can be really hard. Your privacy is bound to be tested when you are set to share a space with multiple people. Your comfort zone will be poked and prodded.
