Each year, thousands of Americans travel to Baja California for vacation. Among them, many are intrepid surfers migrating to their seaside houses every summer and forming communities of American, highly isolated but inter-connected. Though many of those communities are totally off-grid and people have been using diesel generators from the beginning.

On early May, Eloncity was introduced to install a system for one family in the American community in Punta Chivato next to California Bay.

Punta Chivato

This community consists of hundreds of families, much of which spend half of the year here, surfing and camping.

One week later, a system consisting of 18 100W PV modules and 1 iCAN NetZero started working. The owner was then free from the embarrassing noises from generators, especially at nights.

This is a stimulator to the community. After that, another system of 14 315W PV modules and 1 iCAN NetZero was soon completed.

In the next few months, more systems will be installed for the community, for a better environment both for vocation and surfing.

For Eloncity, this will be the first model in reality of self-independent off-grid communities.
