Scorpion Bay is one of the best surfing destinations in the world. Each year, thousands of tourists come and stay in Scorpion Bay Hotel, the most renowned hotel to surfers here.
Unreliable Grid Power Supply
This hotel has long been powered by diesel generator working all night since there is no grid power after 10 p.m. at night. This is roaring and air polluting on one hand, and a high expenditure on the other side.
In spring 2019, Eloncity was invited to install a solar power system for the restaurant and office in the hotel, as a test to go fully renewable.
Solution
A system consisting 2 sets of iCAN NetZero Parallel with a storage capacity of 32.3kWh and 36 solar panels with a total capacity of 11.7kWp was set up. This system has been working for months without loss.
Since then, daily noise and pollution have been gone. All cost on the solar system can be covered within months compared to diesel fuels. What’s more importantly, visiting here becomes more enjoyable.
Eloncity is now working to provide solution to 100% solar power for the whole hotel, including lighting, fan and even air conditioning of all guest rooms.
