My beautiful daughter, a beautiful handmaiden, a gorgeous princess, the prettiest women I have ever laid my eyes on. Most fairy tales we read began with a sentence like the examples above to describe the heroin of our story. A tale we all know, and now know many versions of is Cinderella. A young lady who’s mother died when she was a child and was left with her widowed father who later remarried an evil stepmother who only loved her two blood daughters and despised Cinderella. She sent her to live with the servants and have nothing to do with their family. One day the women of the household were all invited to the princes’ coronation for him to find his wife. Cinderella is hidden and not allowed to attend says her step mother, she later is granted her wish and gets to attend the ball. Now, to return back to the idea of beauty, the prince lays one eye on his beautiful cinderella and knows she is the one for him. They dance all night, until she is rushed home before her disguise fades and she becomes a servant again. When leaving she loses her shoe, the prince searches the whole kingdom for its owner and it finally fits his lovely Cinderella and her beauty and small feet are awarded when she marries her handsome prince. Despite the fact that they know nothing about each other and they only danced for a couple hours, shows the real love they share, right? These fairy tales invest the idea that beautiful women only find perfect husbands because they are beautiful and you do not need to have any other quality to be loved. These two live happily ever after? What a scam of a relationship!

The Sun, Moon, and Talia a contemporary story based of the famous Sleeping Beauty has another imperfect definition of real love. While Talia is asleep due to a sleeping spell, her so called Prince rapes her and she bares two children. Her child pulls out the needle that is causing her deep slumber and she arises. After she wakes she is wed to her love and they live a so called happily ever after, as many classic love stories end! The story emphasizes that the princes actions were an act of love on his beautiful princess and she would have wanted nothing else because they are in love! Ergo, entices this happy ending for the beautiful couple and these actions are an act of their true love.

While never actually dating in the movie, Sharpay Evans was in love with Troy Bolton. Why? because he is hot, of course! In Disney’s High School Musical, Troy Bolton is the heart throb who is in love with his high school sweetheart Gabriella Montez. While their love story is one for the books, Troy had another women fighting for his looks. Sharpay wanted everything to do with Troy, were they friends, not really and they barely knew anything about each other but Sharpay knew they were in love and would do nothing to stop from getting him to be hers. The modern not so love story tends to die down over the course of the three movies but Sharpay will always love Troy, well mostly just his beauty.
