Redefining the community
Our story has unfolded for almost 2 years and as Elrond Network’s birthday approaches we haven’t thought this journey will be possible without the effort and dedication of a powerful community. As our long term focus is set towards the #BUIDL creed, we also want to create a stronger and closer relationship with each person that has contributed in building what Elrond is today.
For all the dedication we are thankful and as a token of appreciation we want to emphasize how well you have done your part and motivating us to keep doing ours.
Escalating our community platform
We marked the end of the third wave of social mining that accelerated the Elrond ecosystem growth like never before and with it, we managed to reward the 100 participants who dedicated their effort into educating and spreading the Elrond spirit through the world.
The stakes were high, as this wave was like a continuous effort, a marathon that had the content athletes sprint through a high number of events and competitions.
We had our first Cryptobubbles.io tournament where players devoured each other to reach the leader boards and it was a fierce competition, as only the top 30 players standed on the podium. What happened next was that players started to share their strategies and experiences accumulated over the course of the tournament through in depth guides, that covered all kinds of tips and tricks. Thus with an improved gameplay the community was ready to take on another challenge, on the #GetBig campaign, by reaching #1 in a single game and recording their way of achieving that and we can say is that the score was tight, where even ten points made the difference from the first and second place, showcasing just how competitive our community is.
Regarding the testnet phase the community was also very united and involved, reaching a level of friendly competitivity that extended in the form of educating fellow community members in the art of running an Elrond node by creating written and video guides, scripts and tools that made what we envisioned as being accessible, even more user friendly.
Taking Decentralization to the next level
While a lot of projects focus their energy on a single channel of communication, we felt that sometime creative energy gets dissipated into the mass of messages and thus we wanted to offer our community a tailored experience, that suits their needs and is focused on a target goal.
The solution was, as our network, to take the decentralization path and split into multiple focused groups (shards) that can channel their energy in more productive ways. This feat was possible with the help of the Elrond Elves, tireless and relentless warriors that help us keep the shire united, many of whom came from the ranks of the community, as individuals that wanted to know more, help more and in the end create more.
Rewards and reset
The main point of this wave was to focus on scarcity of rewards, thus we decided to reward our top 100 contributors, who distinguished themselves through the entire wave, by getting new users on board the community platform, by being around and helping the community with specific tasks and by creating a special bond with us, a bond that made them feel the drive to contribute to the future of Elrond in their own personal way.
This is the reason we decided to increase the rewards up to 7.5 Million ERD tokens so that they become substantial enough to incentivise people to adhere to our vision and prepare them for the most important phase of our project, the mainnet launch, by offering them rewards to be able to run a node and support the project they love.
What we liked and what we would like to see
The contributions in the 3rd wave were beyond our expectations as we received a lot of great contributions, that enhanced the way Elrond was presented into the world and how newcomers can interact and learn more about our mission. Here are some that made the hall of fame:

We are excited to have such a strong community be part of our journey and as we move forward we expect nothing less into the wave 4, that will see once again an evolution with the addition of another communication channel dedicated for our most involved members, the forum and the launch of the much expected event, the Battle of Nodes. As mainnet approaches we want to thank the community for being part and contributing bit by bit to the succesful launch of our network, for us Elrond is about community also!
