At ELSE we like to have a charitable focus each year that allows us to raise money, do some good and have fun trying challenging things that we might not have done before. The operative work in ELSE Challenge is challenge, so it’s not supposed to just be a walk in the park.

Last year it was our inaugural ELSE Challenge and it saw us partake in a number of sponsored events in an attempt to raise about £10K for our nominated charity — The Brain Tumour Charity.

We just about scraped our target thanks to generous friends, family, former colleagues and of course clients. The ELSE team got involved individually and collectively as ELSERs tackled Kingston Dragon Boat Race, The Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest and our own 100KM Brecon Beacon Challenge.

At ELSE like to support charities that are out of common view so to speak, so I’m pleased to announce that this year we’ll be raising money for THE SICK CHILDREN’S TRUST.

The Sick Children’s Trust was founded in 1982, and does sterling work providing ‘Home from Home’ accommodation at hospitals around the United Kingdom.

The charity currently has ten houses, in London, Leeds, Cambridge, Sheffield and Newcastle upon Tyne. When their child is receiving treatment in hospital for a serious or life-limiting illness, parents can stay at the charity’s ‘Homes from Home’, free of charge, so that they can be close to their child and keep the family unit together.

We’re immensely proud to help these guys provide such valuable support to families in these desperate situations.

Of course, this year the bar is going up slightly. We have a the Dragon Boat Race booked again. It’s just an excuse to get our team ‘Drag In Boat’ out again and cross-dress for the afternoon while trying to power an canoe down the Thames against 70 other teams.

We also have a CAPITAL TO COAST bike ride booked for June, 60, 80 or 100 mile distances (I’ll say now that I’m in for the full ton. There, I said it.)

And of course we’ll be doing a SERIOUS event in October similar to last years 100KM multi-sport challenge across the Brecon Beacons.

Sorry, but we’ll be asking for sponsorship again…
