The field of multimedia and mass communication has become uniquely beneficial in this era and especially due to the harrowing pandemic, becoming the only window to keep moving on with our lives, the only root to hold onto in this storm. The multimedia and mass communication course is highly lucrative and the demand in this field will continue to expand exponentially in the coming days. 1. Advertising

Advertising is the audio or visual form of marketing a particular product or service through media. It is the tool of influencing the public to purchase. It uses media to reach out to the public in large numbers. Advertising creates awareness in the minds of possible customers. Media used for advertising are- online websites, newspapers, magazines, television, radio, hoardings etc. This also includes social media marketing.

2. Public Relations Officer

Image building for any organization is essential, and it is the task of the Public Relations Officer, PRO to put the spotlight on the company’s achievements and bring them to the public notice, either through television, or newspaper, or other online sites. It is the job of the Public Relations Officer to develop PR strategies and campaigns, update promotional materials, distributing press releases etc.

3. Journalist

Journalists investigate and collect information to create a news story, for television, newspaper, magazines, radio etc. They also research and edit the news pieces. They inform and enlighten the masses on the numerous issues occurring around them. They present the news in an objective, unbiased and neutral manner, covering all sides of the story. And within the spectrum of the vast field of journalism, there are many other options one can consider:-

A. Reporters

They are directly involved in the collection of the news information by visiting the location of the news event. They take the interviews and gather the information from the source. Reporters may work as freelancers, or in big organizations. The key difference between a reporter and a journalist is that the research work is done on part of the journalist and for the reporter, it is only to relay the news to the public. Thus reporters are a subset of journalists. Many journalists can also work as reporters, but not all reporters are journalists.

B. Sub-editors

They do not gather news by themselves, instead collect stories brought in by the reporters and edit them according to the needs of different newspapers, websites, and magazines. They are concerned solely with how the news pieces can be adapted to the needs of a specific audience.

C. Photojournalists

They use photos as a means of conveying news to the public. They may cover news events with the reporters, or work on their own.

D. News Editor

They are in charge of taking all the important decisions regarding who will cover which story, and who will do the work. They are assigned as the Chief in the large news organization whose main task is to assign people to different stories.

E. Feature writers

They write articles for magazines and newspapers especially feature stories and other lengthy cover stories. They can cover any topic, be it sports, politics or entertainment. This type of article has a lot of in-depth research and gives readers and lengthy and informative article.

4. Radio Jockey

RJ or The Radio Jockey is tasked with playing music on the radio, holding discussions and conducting interviews. The programmes are designed specially to broadcast a wide variety of audio content, such as promotional advertisements, news, songs, debates etc.

5. Film director

A film director studies the script and finds out the best way to bring it to life before the audience, along with a message or a purpose to reach the audience, be it be public education or casual entertainment.

6. Screenwriter

The screenwriter does the research work necessary to create a rough script for original screenplays, which with the consultation with the producer and the director, the screenwriter may modify and according to any other needs. Alongside originality, minimal knowledge about the film system should also be known, to flourish the overall outcome.

7. Event management

The job of an event manager is to organize and plan social, business or promotional large scale events from start to finish. They run large events to successfully reach out to the target audience. The events can be conferences, concerts, ceremonies, wedding, festivals, convocations etc.

8. Art director

An art director is responsible for looking at the visual appeal or the visual aesthetic of the marketing. They are tasked with the overall visual aspects of an advertising or media campaign. They also organize and coordinate the artistic or design staff, such as graphic designers, and supervise their work. The initial stages on the path to becoming an art director involve starting as a graphic designer.

9. Content writer

A content writer specializes in writing content which is relevant, interesting and engaging for the target audience for various websites, including social network, e-commerce sites, blogs etc. This helps to expand the digital footmark of the organizations and initiate in development of innovative content ideas.

10. Sound engineer

A sound engineer looks after the sound systems and mechanisms in radio, television programs, and even live shows. They are tasked with resolving sound mechanism issues, if any arrive, and adding sound effects to the recordings.
