Curriculum developers, also known as curriculum specialists or instructional coordinators, are educational professionals who work with a wide range of professionals and use their specialized skills to create and rework the learning content, teaching material, training, and so on.

Most curriculum developers will specialize in a certain area of education. While others are involved in conducting teacher training conferences to introduce new learning standards and demonstrate effective teaching methods.

Range of Responsibilities:

  • Conduct extensive research on curricula to decide how and what the students should be taught, and how teachers should be trained
  • Undertake tracer studies, impact studies, skills gap analysis, stakeholder conference, and search conferences to ensure & support effective curriculum implementation
  • Experiment and evolve responsive models/approaches of curriculum and evaluation system as per contemporary needs of the country (making it learner-centered, flexible, modular, credit-based with multipoint entry & exit features with a multidisciplinary focus)
  • Create detailed, engaging curricula and quality resources, liaising with subject experts, selecting appropriate instructional methods, and providing workable timeframes to achieve the goals outlined in the curriculum
  • Develop specifications for stimulating course content, lesson plans, and recommending interesting additional resources
  • Revise and rewrite course content to ensure accuracy, standardization, and to translate employee training and development needs into engaging educational courses
  • Train teachers and other instructional staff in new content, pedagogical strategies, and technology, analyzing student test data by customizing training programs and utilizing interactive technology
  • Track and analyze training programs by examining learner’s satisfaction levels, proficiency testing, increased attendance, retention, and employee performance metrics
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to revise policies, review educational activities, and contribute to continued adapting of instructional strategies to meet unique student needs, and address student learning or behavioral problems

  • Develop and document error-free curriculum and assessment-related resources, monographs, guidelines, manuals, video programmes, quizzes, activities, according to parameters such as ease of instructional technology use and student learning, and knowledge transfer
  • Interpret guidelines and review curricula to ensure adherence to national standards, international accord, norms, or criteria as per accreditations requirements

Educational Qualifications Preferred:

Master’s degree in fields related to education:

Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT),

Master of Education (M.Ed.),

Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.),

or a Master of Education in Curriculum and Development.
