Talking is hard enough but being judged makes it harder and the aftermath consumes one’s own identity.

Let’s presume something, you feel nervous, frustrated, and overthink about the future, careers, jobs. Care to observe? We almost recognized you without even knowing you, didn’t we?

Predictably, a lot of us are struggling with mental tensions as this long period of isolation seems like big punishment for something heinous. No one can deny that everyone living in the present is somewhere trapped in thoughts of their future which is certainly ambiguous. Nowadays people are more likely to be affected by mental issues. The pandemic has given enough time and space for people to go on a guilt trip. It simply gets oppressive to experience some guilt or harshness over oneself and this directs people plunging into a space of depression taking a major toll on their mental health.

According to sources, the age group of 16–30 is highly affected by one or the other mental health issues which are generally invisible on the outside but gradually lead to someone committing suicide.

Mental Health Stigma

Nearly 70% of people accept that there lies a stigma attached to mental illness which is viewed as a weakness. Talking openly about emotions is rarely encouraged. Awareness regarding mental trauma and mental illness is needed at different fronts to make every person in society feel the need of detour.

Mental distress is often seen as a key reason why one student commits suicide every hour in the country. Needless to say, the attitude of many Indians remains stuck in the stigma and responses never come helping. Those suffering from mental trauma are inclined to avoid any discussion about mental concerns openly. fearing being labeled or judged. We need to understand that the person could be in crisis; s/he is not a criminal under some mental isolation which has no end.

It is rightly said that there are a thousand ways to perceive things but what makes a society peaceful is a perception that magnifies the positive and minimizes the negative. Maybe one day, everyone will be excited to share mental health stories in an open space, and that day will be a big achievement.

Reducing suffering can be a real struggle but being grateful for things that make us happy can boost one’s mind. In these challenging times, it is important that we press the pause button and reflect on life.

Some remedies to make you feel happier and satisfied with life:

  • Revive old connections and make some new ones too: Even during this isolation zone, it’s crucial to choose oneself over others. If you want, give your friends and family calls and video calls (if possible, regularly) and lessen your risks of falling into a rut. We are all in this together.
  • Make a gratitude log: Prepare a log that reminisces your good memories and people around you. It’s valuable and better than sulking over some unseen outcomes. Evaluate and spend time with yourself.
  • Give space to activities, that magnify your senses: Some days may seem difficult when the blanket of sadness covers all other emotions. Please understand that it is okay to feel that way. However, snapping out of it is important. Start doing activities that make your spine tingle and rejuvenate your mood, like speaking or writing your thoughts out, make your room as decorative as you like. These will distract your mind.
  • Reach out to us, we’re here: If you would like to explore what skills you are good at, if you feel terrible about your future, careers or you need a mentor, we as a family provide you guidance. We help wither away your future tensions by suggesting the right path to walk upon. What’s more, we are willing to walk on that path, with you.
