LADY SHRI RAM COLLEGE FOR WOMEN (LSR)
Har ladki ka khwaab, har placement ka jawaab- LADY SHRI RAM!
It does sound like some cheesy tagline or clichéd advertisement but it was the first appraisal I got about LSR and nothing can describe this exceptional college better. Quora says LSR is every girl’s dream and after spending one year in these iconic red buildings, I know the reason. From the beautiful lawns to the amazing location and the first-class infrastructure; LSR has everything that one looks for (except maybe guys!).
When I first entered the campus for admissions, that special vibe of those red walls made me feel like an intruder. The orientation day was quite overwhelming as we were being introduced with a lot of new stuff but one phrase kept being used throughout- The Magic Of LSR. At that time it seemed like just another tacky tagline but in retrospect, I can say with confidence that “The Magic of LSR” is not only real but also transformative. I’ve been witnessing this transformation in me which doesn’t occur in a vacuum, but because of the other empathetic, strong, and intellectual women, who have not only guided me throughout but also given me a wonderful company to enjoy in the college.
It has been a year of me pursuing Bachelor’s in Economics with a minor in Political Science and watching myself grow at Lady Shri Ram College; it has been a roller coaster ride. Besides making me aware of the challenges of life, it has given me the strength to overcome them along with empowering me and giving me the freedom to voice my opinions. Being in LSR is being in an environment where you learn lots of things every day — taking the full name of the lecturer will surely raise eyebrows on the campus as every girl uses the initials of their favorite lecturers here!
LSR is recognized for its sky-high placements, insightful lectures, and amazing alumni. One year has made me aware of the academics and the attendance game, which might seem a little demotivating, but still holds. Unlike most of the colleges in DU, attendance at LSR is considered as important as your academics and can never be compromised, come hail, or sunshine!
The Diwali Mela, Noor, is full of eccentric lights, blazing rangolis, and an amazing antique exhibition. NOOR brings immense pleasure to the outstation students, reminding them of the celebration in their hometown. Sweet, right? The annual fest of LSR, Tarang, attracts many college students, with a three-day celebration comprising stalls of different accessories and mellifluous bands. LSR has much more to reveal than the obvious. Some of the popular sports in the university are the big amphitheater, the peace center dedicated to the alumni Aung San Su Kyi, and the lawns with blooming flowers.
Societies, clubs, and other extracurriculars at LSR give a big platform to justify the potential of students in whichever desired field, from DanceSoc to DebSoc; the experience you get is rather precious and miraculous. The turning point of my college life was my selection at NCC-LSR which gave me a sweet family of some extremely inspiring women. Developing unexpected friendships with seniors and classmates from all across India, makes me feel grateful to be part of this college.
Every college is surrounded by iconic places that make everyone feel at home. Located in the heart of South Delhi, roadside stalls and pretty cafés can be found all around LSR. Some girls take pleasure in Hunger Strike ke Tandoori Momos at Amar Colony whilst the sophisticated lot prefer the fancy Big Chill Café in the Kailash Colony because Big Chill is the Only Chill! For some, Interior Café’s (it’s not a canteen, mind you!) samosa chai and garlic bread are pretty enough to satiate their cravings after those exhausting lectures. The Sevpuri stall right outside the main gate with the pleasing greenery is quite alluring.
LSR is not just a college, it is a lovely tough ride which questions you, stimulates you, sometimes lets you down, but, gives you golden memories to cherish and loves you throughout your life.
