The ELYSIA team recently announced the development of an RWA Perp DEX project called CRX. In this post, we’d like to talk about how ELYSIA came to develop CRX.

ELYSIA has been focusing on RWA since 2018. Through ELYSIA, various RWAs have been tokenized, and through ELYFI, numerous RWA tokens have been liquidated. During this process, we have learned a lot and have become excited about new markets, but we have also identified several issues.

Regulatory Uncertainty and Lack of Testing Environments

Clear laws and regulations are crucial for connecting real-world assets to the blockchain. However, the regulatory framework remains to be clarified, limiting the free participation of many people. This environment also makes it difficult to test and issue RWA tokens.

Challenges with RWA Oracles and Cost Reduction

Uploading RWA information to the blockchain was a much more challenging process than we anticipated. Real estate data, in particular, is very difficult to collect and has the drawback of long update cycles. Additionally, due to various practical issues, the cost-saving effects of using blockchain have been minimal compared to our expectations, and there were many inefficiencies in the process.

Exchange Rate and Kimchi Premium Issues

Most cryptocurrencies used in the market are stablecoins pegged to the US dollar. This creates challenges for investing in RWAs in regions where the dollar is not the primary currency, leading to complications with exchange rates and also the called “Kimchi premium”. These issues make it difficult to calculate accurate returns and can sometimes result in losses.

Introducing CRX: The RWA Perp DEX

CRX is a perpetual futures exchange that allows trading real-world asset indexes in an order book format. CRX addresses the issues listed above with RWAs and offers the following advantages:

CRX is a DEX that enables the trading of asset values against each other, allowing free participation and a wide range of assets to be traded.
By investing in the RWA index, CRX simplifies and optimizes the process.
All transactions are conducted based on the value of the US dollar, reducing risks such as exchange rate fluctuations and the Kimchi premium.

Expanding the ELYSIA Ecosystem

With the launch of CRX, the ELYSIA ecosystem will have a comprehensive presence in the RWA space:

ELYSIA — RWA Tokenization Protocol: Issuance of RWA tokens.
ELYFI — RWA Token Liquidation Protocol: Distribution of RWA tokens.
CRX — RWA Index Futures Exchange: RWA futures and indirect investments.

RWA 오라클 이슈와 비용 절감의 어려움

RWA의 정보를 블록체인에 올리는 것은 우리의 예상보다 훨씬 어려운 과정이었습니다. 특히 부동산 데이터는 수집하기 매우 어려웠고 업데이트 주기도 매우 길다는 단점이 있었습니다. 또한 여러 현실적인 문제 때문에 기대에 비해 블록체인으로 인한 비용 절감 효과가 미비했으며 프로세스가 효율적이지 못한 부분들도 많았습니다.

환율과 김프 문제

크립토 시장 내에서 운용되는 대부분의 화폐는 스테이블 코인으로, 이들은 달러 가치에 연동되어 있습니다. 이로 인해 달러를 사용하지 않는 지역에서 RWA에 투자할 때는 환율과 김프(김치 프리미엄) 문제에 직면하게 됩니다. 이러한 문제들로 인해 정확한 수익률을 계산하기 어려워지며, 때로는 손실을 초래할 수도 있습니다.
