NaNoWriMo 2019 Schedule
Just to preface the reasoning for starting this publication, I needed a place to store my pieces of writing that I aim to make. Now, I know it may not be the best way to go about this, but in order to stay motivated and disciplined, I need to have a place to “publish” and share my writing.
I may not get any viewers, and my work may not be up to par with other writers on this platform, but this is my own repository and my own safe space to create, write, and improve my writing.
NaNoWriMo is the perfect month to start this endeavor. It not only incites creativity but also a sense of discipline. Every day, write 1, 666 words, by then end of the month, you should have 50, 000 words written. Whether it’s writing a novel (which is what it was originally intended for) , poetry, prose, however you’d to achieve that goal, you make sure you achieve it.
My goal for this month is not to write a novel by the end of the month but to write 1 short (ish) story a week. I still want to keep to writing 1,666 words a day, so I can really challenge myself. The reason I wanted to write short stories is so I can test out some different genres, writing styles and reach beyond the bounds of my imagination.
Here is my schedule (subject to change depending on my inspiration for that week):
Week 1: Comedic short story loosely inspired by the book (and show) Good Omens by Neil Gaimen, and a writing prompt on r/writingprompts from Reddit. I had already started this story but wanted to expand on it. I thought I’d start with something I had already created in order to ease into November.
Week 2: A fantasy piece that tell its story through prose/poetry.
Week 3: Science- fiction with a but of mystery mixed in.
Week 4: Ending with non-fiction works. Some book reports, and stories of lessons I’ve learned in my life. This may be subject to change if I feel like I would like to continue a story from previous week.
If anyone is reading this, hope you enjoy! (Constructive) Criticism is much appreciated! Please do keep in mind that I am in no way trained in writing or creative writing, but I do want to get better!
