A (Metaverse) Party to Remember

To celebrate our second birthday, we teamed up with Cryptovoxels to throw an epic party in the Metaverse. For anyone who doesn’t know, the Metaverse is an alternate digital reality where people work, play, and socialize. Or in our case, it’s where the best party of 2021 took place! More than five hundred avatars descended on the dance floor, some decked out in their very own Emanate t-shirts, designed specially for the event. They danced, chatted, even flew across the room while more than seven hundred people tuned in via Twitch. Live performances were streamed to a television inside the metaverse, hung above the dance floor, heaving with dancing avatars.

Entry to the event was free, all you needed was a Metamask wallet, a stable internet connection and a pension for good music. The lineup featured the likes of DJ Lethal Skillz, Laminar, Roby, Chentsaus and more; each bringing different genres to the party.

We spoke with DJ Lethal Skillz, one of the DJs performing on the night to get his thoughts:

“The performing artists were all top-notch, and their music selection was packed with great energy and beautiful vibe. It was all dope from beginning to end but for me, the Atoms set, the Drum’n’Bass segment from Laminar and Roby with his insane visuals during his set and the Hip Hop from Masia One, MxN and West Bound echoed the most”.

Once punters made their way past the bouncer, they could check out the NFT art gallery and even bid on a piece as if they were at a real auction, or they could head straight to the dance floor.

There was also a guest book by the bar, offering token giveaways to the first fifty people to sign their name.

“There were avatars queuing in front of the guest book by the bar to sign the guest book to get a share of the Emanate token airdrop!”

Despite the timezone differences, there was no shortage on numbers for the event, with avatars filling the room before the party had officially begun. Data provided by Cryptovoxels shows that it was the most visited event of the week, putting strain on the servers at various times throughout the event.

While these technical difficulties were slightly intrusive to the good vibes, they‘re a sign of the overwhelming (pun absolutely intended) support we have from our Emanate community; and for that we say a huge thank you to everyone who partied with us (and crashed the servers in the process)!

The potential that this party showed is nothing short of astounding, and tells us that the future for the metaverse is bright! For a lot of the artists performing over the weekend, it was their first live show in almost two years. The pandemic all but extinguished live music, crippling income streams and decimated their creative opportunities, not just for those performing but all around the globe. For those that performed over the weekend, the metaverse is a new, viable alternative to real world performances.

“Being a DJ myself who has not been able to perform or travel since the whole covid-19 thing started and impacted most of us who perform live, throwing a set in the metaverse and seeing and feeling the impact on people reminded me and made me feel the same how I used to feel like that DJ rocking the real dance floor.”

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone in attendance and those behind the scenes who made our second anniversary such a special occasion. We can’t wait to see you at the next one!
