Four Females Artists to Watch in 2022
To celebrate international women’s month, throughout March we’ll be sharing music from some of the best female artists from the emanate community.
Now there are a lot to choose from, but the artists that follow stand out as some of the most promising musicians on the platform. Their power, integrity and unique approach to music is what make each of them a standout artist.
Masia One
She’s an artist, entrepreneur, songwriter, arts educator and creative director. Masia One truly defines her Queendom and creates music with a message to inspire people to feel brave.
Something of a globe trotter, Masia One was born in Singapore, raised in Canada and earned her stripes in America, all while taking inspiration from her time in Jamaica.
Reconnecting with her Asian roots, she has re-emerged as the ‘Far East Empress’ having worked with top producers such as Pharrell, John Frusciante and Che Vicious. Her music has been featured on Netflix series Tiny Pretty Things, Snowpiercer, Wu Assassins, Altered Carbon and infamously in the title track for Fast & Furious 8.
She’s a powerful, outspoken individual that wears her heart on her sleeve and her music is the full embodiment of her powerful personality.
Goldilox
Goldilox knows what she wants and when she wants it. Canadian born, her music took her to Los Angeles and then further to Paris, where she continues to create incredible music.
With a naturally rebellious attitude influenced by a diverse list of the greats; everyone from the Dungeon Family, Michael Jackson, Kid Cudi and Dolly Parton — Goldilox melds them all together to create something truly her own.
Her music is sonically diverse, moving effortlessly between powerful pop full of grit and determination, to moments of sincere vulnerability; delicate and sombre.
Rozie
The definition of a blooming artist, Rozie is a Canadian born singer-song writer, that got her first start in music after begging her parents for piano lessons. Shortly after, at just thirteen years of age, Rozie won a local singing competition that gave her the drive to pursue music as a career. By twenty years of age, she had released her first album.
For lovers of Erykah Badu, Tom Misch, SZA, The Internet and Alicia Keys, Rozie’s music is a blend of smooth soul with upbeat RnB.
As a young artist with so much creative potential, Rozie is one artist that we definitely have our eyes on — and we recommend that you do too.
MICCI
Australian born singer-song writer, MICCI has been touring the world with the likes of Peking Duk and Flight Facilities for years. Cutting her teeth as the lead front woman on the global touring circuit, MICCI is now setting out to be an artist in her own right.
Drawing inspiration from French electro great Sebastian and the Weeknd, MICCI’s solo releases are intense anthems, full of passion set to hard-hitting, retro style beats. Her lyrics can stir up memories that you forgot that you had, or transport you back to simpler times. It’s nostalgic, fresh and fierce all at once.
A dear member of our emanate community for years, MICCI has a larger than life personality with the work ethic and determination that we know will see her take to amazing heights.
