On the outside, many agencies look similar. They offer similar services, they sell similar values of creativity and innovation, and make similar promises to align your brand with culture to drive real business change.

And yet, some agencies consistently deliver award-winning work, attract the industry’s top talent, and perhaps most impressively, convince clients to take creative leaps that redefine their business.

What makes some agencies capable of leading the industry?

I had the pleasure of interviewing Max Ottignon, cofounder of brand agency Ragged Edge. Ragged Edge is responsible for the identities of some of Europe’s top disruptors, including digital-banks Monzo (5Bn valuation) and Wise (IPO’d in 2021 at 11Bn), Zoe (personalized nutrition, raised $15M series B last week), Gaia (IVF financing), and Son of a Tailor (AI custom tailoring).
