Welcome Lars, Embed’s new CTO

We are incredibly excited to announce that Lars Beal, former head of Cash App Investing engineering and Square technology leader, has been appointed Chief Technology Officer of Embed.

Lars joins us from Square, where he built, launched and scaled the technical infrastructure that powered the hyper-growth Cash App Investing product to millions of customers.

Prior to Square, Lars was the CTO of Third Party, my previous startup that was acquired by Square to form the foundation of Cash App Investing. Square wanted us for primarily 3 reasons: our broker-dealer, technology and team — emphasis on team.

Lars is taking over from Damien Whitten, Embed’s first CTO, who has moved into the role of Chief Architect. This is a path they both know well. Lars took over from Damien as CTO at Third Party back in 2017. As they say, history doesn’t repeat but it does often rhyme!

I am eternally grateful for Damien’s efforts since inception, and I am excited to see what Lars, Damien and the rest of the Embed team can achieve together as we launch and scale our clearing & custody platform.
