At Ember Fund we believe in buying a diversified portfolio of cryptocurrencies instead of trying to time the market or pick individual coins. Most of us simply don’t have the time or desire to go up against sophisticated traders or follow the markets 40 hours a week.

Until now, diversifying in crypto hasn’t been easy. It usually involves signing up on multiple exchanges, tracking each asset and perhaps even creating wallets on different wallet providers so you can custody assets securely yourself. (What does custody mean?)

At Ember, we’ve developed solutions to all these challenges and packaged it up in a beautiful mobile app.

Ember is the first mobile app in the world that allows you to buy a diversified portfolio of cryptocurrencies, with one click, fee free. With Ember, you will also have the added benefit of truly owning your own assets, with no third party ever controlling when or how you can access it. The industry term is BYOB “be your own bank”. The way it should be.

“Ok Guillaume, I’ll bite. How do I get started?”

  1. After first opening the app you will arrive at the signup after swiping through the on-boarding screens.

2. To sign up on Ember, you just need an email and to set a password. Simple. Once you sign up you will see this screen:

3. On the bottom, click the icon that says “Portfolio” to get started.

You will arrive at the portfolio selection page. Choose your portfolio.

  • All of our portfolios have different market coverage as well as minimum funding thresholds. This fluctuates and is dictated only by our exchange partners. Each coin is market cap weighted and updated every day. In addition, the different portfolios have different composition of coins based on the utility of the coin (smart contracts, cross border payments, etc).

5. This screen allows you to choose how much Bitcoin you would like to deposit. You can fund from Coinbase or fund from an external wallet.

Note: On this screen you will also get a breakdown of all the assets you will receive, the allocation as well as their value (in coin or US dollars). These are estimates from the exchanges we’ve partnered with, they include mining and exchange fees. Unlike most companies, Ember does not take a fee or bake in additional fees when you fund a portfolio.

Fund from Coinbase

If you choose this option you will get redirected to the Coinbase authentication page. A note will appear to tell you to increase the withdraw amount. You will need to increase the Coinbase send limit to be equal or higher than the deposit amount you chose earlier.

Fund from External Wallet

If you choose this option, we will present you a Bitcoin deposit address for 10 minutes. Once you have sent your Bitcoins, Ember will begin executing the trades with our exchange partners. Once this process is done, you will receive all your assets in each respective cryptocurrency wallet we’ve created for you on your device.

6. As soon as your portfolio is funded, you will be redirected to the home page where you will see your funded portfolio along with portfolio value, ROI and detail view for each coin.

7. After you’ve funded your portfolio (this can take an hour or more) you will see your funded portfolio. You can click on each coin card to get historical price data for each coin as well as the transaction history.

I hope this tutorial was helpful. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the app or feature requests, I’d love to hear from you. Please join our Telegram channel to chat with us directly. Thanks for reading!
