Due to corona outbreak, most of the software companies have facilitated their workers to work from home. Though this is not a new thing for software industry, most of the workers were not ready to this sudden movement. With this background we have to make precautions to avoid interruptions and continuously deliver the value to customer. Let’s discuss where we can fail with “work from home” and some best practices.

1. Network connection

Connecting with the team through internet is the first and foremost important task when working from home. Make sure whether your connection is strong enough to handle video calls, uploads, downloads or whatever the tasks you have to perform. Most importantly if you have to have the demonstrations, strictly make sure everything is ready to deliver the demo continuously.

2. Continuous update

Since team is not physically connecting, nobody knows what you are doing and the issues you have. Therefore daily updates and promptly answering the queries are very important in order to maintain trust and continuous work with the team and the client

3. Reporting work

Similarly reporting your tasks is important. Update online scrum boards, having the daily stand up as usual and having a group communication channel is essential while working from home

4. Have a plan for the day

Since you are working from home is it obvious you feel board. To avoid that make a plan for the day or even for the week and complete tasks accordingly. Listen to a song or do some exercises at the end of the day to avoid stress.

Failures and critical situations are unavoidable obstacles that we have to face in our day-to-day life. But the value is how far we have the strength to face it and avoid it.

Be prepared for failures!!!!
